Public transport and taxis

After you arrive at your destination, one of the next things to do is figure out how you're going to get around. Even if you have a car there'll be times (particularly if you are drinking) when public transport or taxis are a far better option.

Check out the contacts and links below to get local bus and train timetables and route information. Make sure you write down the taxi number servicing your area too - you never know when you might need one.

Getting around the Bass Coast (Phillip Island, Inverloch)

Getting around the Surf Coast (Torquay and Lorne)

Getting around the Mornington Peninsula (Rye, Sorrento and Portsea)

There are many buses servicing the Mornington Peninsula. Bus timetables (new window) are available online, or you can collect a hard copy from the Frankston train/bus station.

Try the Sorrento - Safety Beach bus (new window) or the Frankston - Portsea bus (new window). There's also a Nightrider service (new window) operating between Frankston and Rosebud (and Melbourne) on Friday and Saturday nights.
