Public transport & taxis

After you arrive at your schoolies destination, one of the next things to do is figure out how you're going to get around. Even if you have a car there'll be times (particularly if you are drinking) when public transport or taxis are a far better option.

Check out the contacts and links below to get local bus and train timetables and route information. Make sure you write down the taxi number servicing your area too - you never know when you might need one.

Getting around the Bass Coast (Phillip Island) area

The Bass Coast Shire provides public transport timetable (external link) on their site. The also provide a selection of maps (external link) so you can get your bearings.

Getting around the Surf Coast (Torquay and Lorne) area

Getting around the Mornington Peninsula (Rye, Sorrento and Portsea) area

There are many buses servicing the Mornington Peninsula area. Bus timetables (external link) are available online, or you can collect a hard copy from the Frankston train/bus station.

Try the Sorrento - Safety Beach bus (external link) or the Frankston - Portsea bus (external link). There's also a Nightrider service (external link) operating to and from Frankston and Rosebud (and Melbourne) on Friday and Saturday nights.
