000 - ambulance, fire and police
In an emergency dial 000 for police, fire or ambulance. It's a free call from anywhere in Australia. Tell the operator which service you need and you will be connected. If you are calling on a mobile phone you will be asked for the city and state that you are in. (Note - If your mobile phone is out of range from your normal network, dial 112. This number, 112, can also be used to contact emergency services while overseas.)
