Info for parents

Schoolies is a time of mixed feelings for most parents. While you're thrilled that your school leaver has completed a major milestone, and you support their right and desire to celebrate this achievement, a schoolies holiday might be the first time they will be without direct adult supervision for an extended period.

Safety during the schoolies period is the Victorian Government's first priority and we're working closely with the Shires of schoolies hot-spots in Victoria, as well as the NSW and QLD governments, to improve safety and promote awareness of rights and responsibilities, not just of school leavers, but of those who live and work in schoolies destinations.

While most of the information on this site targets school leavers, it is equally as relevant to parents, teachers, carers and others who work with young people. This section provides information specifically for parents.
